Three apps I used for reading articles closed in the last two years. Pocket, Perch, Artifact. I missed having one of these. I started building Readit so I'd have one I could keep running.
The job is small. Save articles, YouTube, PDFs. Strip the noise. Give you a clean reader, or natural voices on a walk. Pick one good essay every morning so something interesting actually gets finished.
I want it to stay small. The apps I loved died trying to grow into something else. The plan here is to do this one thing well, for a long time.
Your articles, not your bookmarks.
Export gives you the text. HTML, Markdown, JSON. Available from settings on day one.
No ads.
No advertisers, no tracking pixels, no engagement metrics being optimised against your reading.
One small app.
Save, read, find again. No social feed, no comments. Adding things that aren't in service of those three is a trap I want to stay out of.
