1. Who provides this service
Readit is provided by Mahmoud Alwadia. By signing in you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.
2. What Readit is
A read-it-later app: you save URLs, we fetch and reformat the articles for your personal reading, you organise and read them. Optional Pro features add AI-generated summaries, tags, semantic search, and premium voices.
3. Accounts
- Sign in with Google OAuth. You're responsible for keeping your Google account secure.
- One account per person. Don't share your account.
- You must be 16 or older.
4. Acceptable use
Don't use Readit to:
- Bypass paywalls or access content you don't have a legal right to read.
- Scrape at volume or automate mass saves to run up our costs.
- Save illegal content or content that violates someone else's rights.
- Build a public dataset from saved articles (respect the sources' copyright).
- Interfere with the service (DoS attacks, exploiting bugs, probing).
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules. Usage limits (20 saves/day for free, 200/day for Pro) apply per account.
5. Your content and saved articles
You keep all rights in your tags, collection titles, descriptions, and any text you write. You grant us a narrow licence to store, process, and display that content back to you, solely to run the service.
When you save a URL, you direct Readit to fetch the page on your behalf and store a personal copy for your own later reading. Readit acts at your direction; the decision to save, and the right to read the underlying article, are yours.
By saving a URL, you represent and warrant that:
- you have the right to read and personally archive the article at that URL;
- saving it doesn't breach the source's terms or a paywall you haven't paid for;
- you won't use Readit to build a redistributable corpus of others' work.
Articles you save remain the property of their publishers. Readit stores your copy on a per-account basis - we don't pool saved articles across users, don't expose them publicly, and don't train models on them. Sharing public collections (links plus your own notes) is allowed; republishing others' full articles is not.
If a third party brings a copyright or terms-of-use claim against us arising from a URL you saved, you'll cooperate with us to resolve it (typically: we remove the content; you stop saving from that source). See our takedown process for how rights holders can reach us.
6. Pro subscription
- Pro costs $5/month or $50/year. Pricing is shown at checkout in your local currency where supported, inclusive of any applicable taxes.
- Payment is via Stripe. Your card details never touch our servers.
- Billing is recurring. Cancel any time from Settings → Subscription.
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period - you keep Pro access until then.
- Refunds: no automatic refunds for partial periods. If you think a charge is wrong, email us within 14 days and we'll make it right.
- Right of withdrawal (EU consumers): by starting a Pro subscription you explicitly ask us to begin service immediately. You acknowledge this means you forfeit the 14-day right of withdrawal under §356(4) BGB for any Pro feature you've already used.
7. AI features (Pro only)
Summaries, semantic search, and "Ask" are generated by LLMs. They sometimes hallucinate or produce incorrect information. Don't rely on AI output for legal, medical, or financial decisions. We don't train any model on your content.
8. Availability
Readit runs on a single VPS. We aim for high uptime but don't promise any specific SLA. Maintenance, upstream outages, or issues with third-party services (Google, Stripe, Gemini, Microsoft) may cause temporary downtime.
9. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Data & Account. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that we can't legally support. If we terminate you without cause and you're a Pro subscriber, we'll refund the unused portion of the current period.
10. Liability
We're liable without limitation for injury, intent, and gross negligence, and where §§ 1, 4 ProdHaftG applies. Otherwise, our liability is limited to foreseeable damage typical for the type of contract. We're not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
Readit is provided as-is. You're responsible for keeping your own backups of anything important. Use Settings → Data & Account → Export my data if you want a copy.
11. Changes to these terms
We'll email material changes at least 30 days in advance. If you don't accept them, cancel before they take effect.
12. Governing law & venue
These terms are governed by German law, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Exclusive venue is the courts competent for Mahmoud Alwadia's registered office, to the extent permitted. EU consumers may bring claims in their home jurisdiction under mandatory consumer law.
13. Copyright takedown
If you're a rights holder and want content removed, see our takedown process. We aim to acknowledge complete notices within 72 hours and remove infringing content promptly.
